The Greek Theatre
Los Angeles' Greek Theatre is an award-winning amphitheater located in Griffith Park. The Greek Theatre LA opened on September 25, 1929 and was modeled after a Greek temple. Although the Greek Theatre Los Angeles is managed, operated and promoted by Nederlander-Greek Inc., it is the property of the City of Los Angeles.
The Greek Theatre LA is one of the city's most historic venues, and has welcomed many of the biggest names in entertainment to its stage. Sting, My Morning Jacket, Alicia Keys, Pearl Jam, Santana, Tina Turner, Norah Jones, the Allman Brothers, and Ray Charles are just a few of those featured on The Greek Theatre schedule in the past.
As well as boasting an impressive list of past and upcoming performers, the Greek Theatre LA further proves its standing amongst the world's top venues by continuing to collect numerous awards. The Greek Theatre LA has been the recipient of the Hollywood Heritage Award, Performance Magazine's Amphitheatre of the Year Award and, seven out of the last ten years, Pollstar Magazine's Best Small Outdoor Venue of the Year Award.
